Kelly Otter | Dean of the School of Continuing Studies, Georgetown University

Current Position and Past Experience
Kelly Otter is currently the dean of the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University. This followed her time as associate dean of graduate academic and faculty affairs in Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies. Prior to this, she served as the associate dean of the University of Pittsburgh’s College of General Studies. Otter served on Pitt's Provost's Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Programs, Enrollment Management Committee, University’s Athletic Compliance Committee, Provost's Advisory Committee for Women's Concerns, University’s Institute of Politics, and the Working Group on Using Assessment to Improve the Student Experience. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Region-13 Education Task Force, a colloborative group creating a program for national preparedness, and she helped to oversee the establishment of Pitt’s Office of Veterans Affairs.

Otter joined the College of General Studies as the assistant dean of academic programs in 2003. Prior to that, she was assistant dean in the School of Arts and Sciences at the College of New Rochelle, and associate director in the Department of Film, Video and Broadcasting in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at New York University (NYU).

Education, Honors and Achievements
Otter received a BA in communications from the University of Michigan; an MA in radio, TV and film from Wayne State University; and a PhD in arts and humanities education from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
She is a member of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association, and serves as vice chair of the Outreach and Engagement Community of Practice. She is also a member of the International Leadership Association, and the National Association of College and Business Officers.
