Chronicle of Higher Education blogger and policy director for Education Sector, Kevin Casey, challenges our valuation of college credits. He uses the example of Stanford’s recent open course on artificial intelligence, for which 23,000 non-Stanford students wrote the exam at a distance.
Casey argues that as bigger schools begin to offer credentials through open courses, enrollments at smaller schools will suffer due to their difference in name recognition.
