Current Position and Past Experience
William G. Tierney is Co-Director of the Pullias Center for Higher Education, University Professor and Wilbur-Kieffer Professor of Higher Education at the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California.

Tierney, the former President of the USC Academic Senate and Past President of the Association for the Study of Higher Education, chaired the PhD program for the USC Rossier School of Education and chaired the University Committee on Academic Review. Tierney has just completed a term as the President of the American Educational Research Association.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Tierney is a highly respected academic, and has earned the American Education Research Association, Division J’s Exemplary Research Award. He is also an American Educational Research Association Fellow and was named Scholar in Residence at the University-Sains-Malaysia.

Tierney was a Fulbright Scholar to Australia and to Central America. He has earned the USC Academic Senate Award for Leadership and Service.

He won the Association for the Study of Higher Education’s Research Achievement Award, and earned the 1996 Forum Best Paper Award with John Smart and George Kuh from the Association for Institutional Research.
