Current Position and Past Experience
Thomas F. Gibbons is the Dean of Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies and a senior lecturer with Northwestern's School of Law. Gibbons was elected to be the President of UPCEA from March 2012 to March 2013. Gibbons, who joined Northwestern in 1992, also oversees a variety of special programs, including distance learning initiatives and one of the nation’s top educational programs for senior law enforcement executives, the Center for Public Safety, as well as the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Northwestern’s Summer Session.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Gibbons holds law degrees from Yale Law School and DePaul University College of Law, a master’s degree from Drew University and his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Gibbons is active in the continuing education community serving as an at-large member of the UCEA Board of Directors, immediate past chair of the UCEA’s Deans and Directors Institute and member of the planning committees for the UCEA annual conferences in 2009 and 2010. Dean Gibbons is also a member of the President’s Advisory Board at Excelsior College in Albany, NY.

He is also the immediate past president of the Chicago Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution and the past co-chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
