Current Position and Past Experience
Colette Atkins is currently the Dean of Business and Information Technology at Kirkwood Community College. This followed nine years at Mount Mercy University where Atkins served in a variety of roles, most recently Assistant Dean of Adult Accelerated Programs. Prior to arriving at Mount Mercy, Atkins focused on serving adult students at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Atkins earned her BBA in Marketing from the University of North Dakota in 1997. She also holds a Master of Arts in Education with emphasis in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma in 2003. She is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Iowa.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Atkins is a past graduate of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Leadership for Five Seasons graduate (2009-2010). She is a member of several professional organizations, including The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, The Commission for Accelerated Programs, and The Upper Midwest Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. She is also a volunteer with Junior Achievement.
