Current Position and Past Experience
Carol Fleming is the Assistant Dean for Outreach & Engagement at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Prior to joining JMU, Carol worked in arts education in Chicago, first with Urban Gateways: Center for Arts Education and then with Chicago Public Schools.

She's always had a passion for the arts, and for connecting schools, children and teachers with cultural institutions, performing companies and residency artists. She was able to continue her passion of bringing people and communities together in her role at JMU. Currently, Fleming provides leadership for graduate degree and certificate programs, develops and leads engagement efforts focusing on community engagement, oversees new and existing program design of non-credit programs, including PK-12, professional development, and the Lifelong Learning Institute. Humor and Happiness are key values to her approach to work.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Carol has a Bachelor's degree in Dance and a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College in Chicago.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Carol is married and has two children. She is also a Board Member of her local Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
