Amanda Major is the Interim Assistant Director of LSU Online at Louisiana State University. She has served in this position since 2016, moving into the Assistant Director role after serving as LSU Online's Interim Director for two years.

Prior to this, Major was a faculty member at the University of Phoenix. She has also served as a Distance Learning Doctoral Intern at Auburn University and as an Instruction Systems Designer/Organizational Development Consultant at Serco NA.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Major completed a BA at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1998. In 2000, she earned a M.A. at Louisiana Tech University. In 2013, she earned her doctorate at Alabama State University.

She has earned her Online Teaching Certificate from the Online Learning Consortium and is qualified to facilitate the APPQMR with Quality Matters and serve as a peer reviewer. She has two certifications, the American Society of Training and Development's Certification in Professional Learning and Performance and the Project Management Institute's Certified Associate in Project Management.

Her research interests include higher education organizational development and distance learning. She has contributed to the professional body of knowledge via publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Major enjoys hiking, especially at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch, and serving her community through various volunteer efforts.
