Amanda Major | Instructional Designer in the Center for Distributed Learning, University of Central Florida

Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2016, Amanda Major has served as an Instructional Designer at the University of Central Florida’s Center for Distributed Learning, UCF’s central agency for online learning. In this role, Major leads professional development projects, contributes to strategic planning and policy development for e-learning, specializing in organizational development and project management.

Prior to joining the Center for Distributed Learning, Major was Assistant Director/Interim Director of LSU Online at Louisiana State University, where she created the online program office’s strategic plan, partnered with an online program management provider, developed policies, and improved business processes to contribute to quality online programs. Amanda has experience delivering results in a variety of learner-focused and client-oriented environments. 

Education, Honors and Achievements
Major holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law from Alabama State University, an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas.

She holds a Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institution (PMI) and a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance Certification from the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Additionally, she has earned certifications from the Online Learning Consortium and Quality Matters focused specifically on online learning in higher education. 

Personal Details and Community Involvement
She enjoys hiking, especially at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch, and serving her community through various volunteer efforts: organizing Toastmasters’ events, planning inter-generational events for the community, serving on a local church Board of Trustees, and advocating for social justice.
