Current Position and Past Experience
Tanya Wakelin currently serves as the manager for eLearning at the Centre for Academic and Faculty Enrichment (CAFE) and Corporate Training Services (CTS) at Durham College (DC). In this role, Wakelin leads the development of online courses for the college’s academic schools and is responsible for budget requirements, quality standards and timelines. She also manages all DC’s projects that are funded by eCampus.

Before joining DC, Wakelin developed her career over seven years as an education and quality manager at OUTDOORsmart!, an eLearning agency that delivers provincial, state and federally accredited online courses across North America. In this role she provided senior oversight over the development of course materials and regulatory and service quality initiatives. Tanya has also held several leadership roles including customer service manager and quality control and compliance manger. She was a key player in the development of OUTDOORsmart!’s award-winning progressive approach to corporate culture that is revered a both a local and national level.

Before realizing her talent and passion for eLearning and project management, Wakelin worked in the public school sector.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Wakelin earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Trent University in Peterborough and Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in Kingston. In 2016, she earned her master’s certificate in Project Management (MCPM) from York University’s Schulich School of Business in Toronto. She has also holds a Quality Matters certification. As a life-long-learner, Wakelin plans to one day earn her master’s degree in Education.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
During the summer months, Wakelin can usually be found at Rice Lake with her husband and 125 lbs lapdog, Winston. She is more of a winter recluse, hibernating indoors with her nose in a book.
