Current Position and Past Experience
Sarah MacDonald is currently the Senior Director of Outreach and Engagement at James Madison University. She served as JMU's Director of Outreach and Engagement for three years before stepping into this role Prior to that, she worked for the university as both the Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement, and the Outreach Programs Coordinator. She has also served as the Acting Associate Director of the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as well as a teaching assistant.

Education, Honors and Achievements
MacDonald earned her BA from Blackburn College in 2002. She went on to do her MA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005 and then completed her EdM there in 2007. She is currently completing her PhD at James Madison University and expects to finish by 2015. Her research interests include prior learning assessment, adult and nontraditional research, and qualitative methods.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
MacDonald serves on the board of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, an organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Harrisonburg (which just won the Great American Main Street Award). She enjoys wine tasting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her dogs Bailey and Declan.
