Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2009, Rebecca Chopp has been the President of Swarthmore College. This followed seven years as President of Colgate University, and a year as a Dean at Yale University’s Divinity School.
Prior to this Chopp had a 15 year career at Emory University, serving in a variety of roles. She started in higher education in 1986 as an Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of Chicago Divinity School.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Chopp earned her BA from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1974. In 1977 she earned her M.Div. from St Paul School of Theology. In 1983, Chopp earned her PhD from the University of Chicago.
