Current Position and Past Experience
Mike Rose has been a faculty member at UCLA since 1994, where he has become a nationally recognized education scholar who has made significant contributions to the study of adult literacy.

Rose is the author of "Back to School: Why Everyone Deserves a Second Chance at Education".

Education, Honors and Achievements
Rose earned his BA from Loyola University and his MS from the University of Southern California. He went on to earn both his MA and PhD from UCLA.

Rose has won a number of awards throughout his career, including the National Council of Teachers of English David H. Russell Award for Distinguished Research in the Teaching of English, the American Educational Research Association's Distinguished Lectureship, UCLA’s Distinguished Teaching Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Grawemeyer Award in Education, and the Commonwealth Club of California Award for Literary Excellence in Nonfiction.
