Current Position and Past Experience
Michael Stearney for the Dean of Enrollment Services at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He has held this position since 2009. Prior to that, he has held various administrative positions in Student Affairs, including Assistant Dean for Student Development, Director of Educational Support Services, and Director of TRIO Programs.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Stearney received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1980. In 1991, he completed his Master of Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has been honored with the Founders Award for Excellence in Academic Support, the highest honor bestowed on Academic Staff at UW-Green Bay. In his 30 years at UW-Green Bay, he has authored and directed several federal grants that provide access, opportunity and academic assistance for under-represented students. For more than 10 years, he also coordinated campus-wide strategic planning to promote the recruitment, retention and graduation of multicultural students.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
For the past six years, Mr. Stearney has advised the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and has accompanied more than 200 students on service trips to build houses for deserving families in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and the Philippines. In his spare time, Stearney enjoys organic gardening, fishing, reading and woodworking.
