Current Position and Past Experience
Linda Schott is the president of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She has held this position since 2012.
Prior to joining UMPI, Schott was the Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. She also worked at Eastern Michigan University, first as Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, and then as the head of the Department of History and Philosophy as well as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Schott specializes in intellectual history and the history of women in the United States.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Schott received a B.A. from Baylor University in 1979. She went on to complete her MA from Stanford University in 1982 and her PhD in 1986.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Schott and her husband Thomas Fuhrmark have four children together. She enjoys hiking and camping as well as relaxing at home with the family’s dog and cats.
