Jean Keller | Vice President for Community Engagement, University of North Texas

Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2013, Jean Keller has served as Interim Vice President for Community Engagement at the University of North Texas. She has been a Professor of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation at the university since 1992. She has held a variety of administrative positions at the University of North Texas, including Dean of the College of Education and the College’s Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. She also served as Acting Dean of the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism and as Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Campus Academic Transition.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Keller earned her BSc from Florida State University in 1976, where she went on to do her M.Sc the year after. In 1981, she received her D.Ed from the University of Georgia.

Keller has received numerous teaching and service awards. Most recently she received the Outstanding Professional award from the Texas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in 2008.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Keller holds experience as a mentor for the University of North Texas’ McNair Scholars Program and Emerald Eagle Scholars Program.
