Current Position and Past Experience
Jarek Janio is an Assistant Professor at Santa Ana College, School of Continuing Education. He is a recognized leader in the field of student learning outcomes (SLOs) and assessment. In 2014, he founded the annual SLO Symposium, a premier event bringing together educators to discuss and innovate assessment practices. In March 2020, he launched Friday SLO Talks, a regular series of discussions fostering dialogue and professional growth among faculty. Collaborating with other coordinators, he co-founded the California Outcomes Assessment Coordinators Hub (COACHes) group in November 2021 to further promote excellence in assessment practices across the state. Janio’s professional experience includes years of dedication to improving educational outcomes, mentoring educators, and leading initiatives that prioritize skill and competency-based learning.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Janio holds a Doctor of Education from Walden University, where his research centered on instructional technology. He also earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from California State University, Long Beach. Janio has been recognized for his contributions to education, receiving awards for his commitment to advancing student learning outcomes. He is a frequent presenter at national and state conferences on education and assessment.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Outside of work, Janio likes to spend time with his family on day trips in Southern California. He is an avid reader of non-fiction books on higher education and science fiction novels.
