Current Position and Past Experience
Cary Nelson has been the Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 1991. He has taught at the university since 1970 and has held a number of academic and administrative positions in that time.

Nelson serves on the Editorial Board of College Literature, The AAUP Journal of Academic Freedom and Works and Days. He is the author or editor of 27 books and has published over 200 articles.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Nelson earned his BA from Antioch College in 1967, and his PhD from the University of Rochester in 1970.

Nelson served as the President of the AAUP from 2006-2008.
