Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2004, Brian Parish has served as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of IData Incorporated, a leading higher education data management company. Prior to starting IData, Parish spent three years as the Director of Product Development with a higher education technology consulting firm. This followed six years as a Programmer/Analyst and Trainer at Datatel (Now Ellucian).
Education, Honors and Achievements
Parish studied Computer Science and Philosophy at The College of William and Mary and George Mason University. Parish is also a certified PMP.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Parish’s perspective on education technology comes from early experience working the extremes of education. After leaving William and Mary, Parish taught Physics and Algebra in a remote Kenyan high school. Upon returning to the U.S. he taught multiple subjects as a substitute teacher at the top high school in the states, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and technology. These experiences paved the way for his advocacy for “appropriate” use of technology in education. This means using the right amount of technology to solve a core problem.
