Brendan Aldrich | Founder, Invoke Learning

Current Position and Past Experience
Brendan Aldrich is the Founder of Invoke Learning, a behavior-aware AI analytics company for higher education that allows colleges and universities to intuitively leverage dozens of internal and publicly available data sources to gain completely new insights around recruitment, enrollment, retention, course success, and more... within just days.

Over the last decade, Aldrich has been responsible for data modernization and innovation initiatives across several city and statewide college and university systems to effect transformative change through the design and deployment of innovative data architectures that engage and empower data-informed decision-making.

His "data democracy" approaches have also empowered thousands of faculty, staff, and administrators with the intuitive, interactive and relevant data needed to support operational efficiency and student success.

A cross-industry data innovations specialist, Aldrich has also held roles as the Chief Data Officer for the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, Chief Data Officer of Indiana's statewide community college, Ivy Tech, Executive Director of Enterprise Information Management for City Colleges of Chicago, Director of Business Intelligence Analytics for new media start-up Demand Media (now Leaf Group), and Director of Business Systems for The Travelers Companies among others.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Aldrich received his Bachelors degree from California State University, Los Angeles.

In recent years, his work has been recognized in the AWS 2018 City-on-a-Cloud "Dream Big" Award category, Gartner's 2017 Data & Analytics Excellence Award for Self-Service Analytics, Hitachi Vantara's 2017 Excellence Award for Social Impact, and Campus Technology Magazine's 2014 Innovators Award for Administrative Systems.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Born and raised in Southern California, Aldrich moved to Chicago in 2010 to spend more time with his extensive Irish family... as well as to become a Blackhawks fan, a deep-dish pizza advocate, and to discover if neon green relish makes a difference (it does). In 2015. he relocated to Indianapolis to become a Hoosier-in-Training where he lived the Indy life, failed completely to develop a love of basketball, and developed a love of Hoosier Sugar Creme Pie (not made from actual Hoosiers), By the time he returned to Southern California, he found that Long Beach was no longer the city pictured in Snoop Dogg's lyrics (probably for the best) and rediscovered a love for consistently warm weather and long walks on the Huntington dog beach with his wife, Mary, and their two Chinooks, Bella and Sammie.

Brendan is also a past chair of the Higher Education Chief Data Officers Working Group and a current member of the Digital Transformation Task Force for EDUCAUSE. He is also the 2018 - 2020 Bench Chair for the Chinook Owners Association.
