Current Position and Past Experience
Yousif Asfour is currently Chief Information Officer at American University of Beirut and has been in the position since September 2014. He is also Chief Innovation and Transformation Officer. Previously, he was President at CIO Lebanon Association. Prior, he was Associate Vice President, Global Technology Services and Chief Information Officer at New York University Abu Dhabi.
Asfour has held leadership and executive positions with several organizations in the US and the Middle East, and currently sits on the boards of several startups. He played a key leadership role in establishing TechCARE (the Lebanese National Research and Education Network) and is the chair of the steering committee of the High Performance Computing center for Lebanon.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Asfour holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Cognitive and Neural Systems from Boston University. He also holds a Master of Electrical Engineering in Signal Processing and Communication and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering from American University of Beirut.
Asfour holds a patent on fast data transfer for parallel computer, and is a co-author of From Geek to Lead: A Techie’s Guide to Leadership (www.geektolead.com)
