Current Position and Past Experience
Sean Carey is currently serving as Associate Dean of Career Programs at City Colleges of Chicago - Wilbur Wright College.
Much of Sean’s work and approach is informed by his experience in school as a returning adult learner. Expanding access and opportunity for adult learners includes a robust integration of Credit for Prior Learning options. He recently developed and will teach a Prior Learning Portfolio class, available to students at all seven City Colleges of Chicago. Sean is also an ambassador with the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) and member of the Chicagoland PLA Consortium.
Previously, Sean served as Interim Associate Dean of Career Programs, worked in Continuing Education, and has taught courses including Speech, Writing, College Success, and Sound Design at both 2 and 4-year institutions. His desire to serve in higher education stems directly from an early role as an undergraduate peer tutor.
