Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Robert Griffiths has held the position of Associate Vice President of Distance Education in the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE) at The Ohio State University since 2016. In this capacity, he advocates for and advances distance education activities and informs university stakeholders about related solutions and considerations. During the past five years, he’s supported the approval and development of 26 online programs and hundreds of online courses. This propelled Ohio State to generate more than $55 million in cumulative new revenue and earn a #1 ranking for online undergraduate programs and #2 online Nursing programs. Further, he contributes to numerous university-wide initiatives.

Prior to taking on his current role, Griffiths created the ODEE grants program and served as principal investigator in an effort to study how the use of technology can engage students, increase instructor efficiency, and support anytime/anyplace learning.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Griffiths is the past chair of the Big 10 Academic Alliance Online Leadership and Strategy working group and an active member of many national networks in the area of online and technology-empowered education. He is a member of the Higher Learning Commission peer reviewer corps. Further, he’s served as a mentor for emerging leaders, as well as a member of Ohio State’s Advocates and Allies for Equity program through the university’s Women’s Place.

Dr. Robert Griffiths holds a Ph.D. in Communication and an M.A. in Communication from Ohio State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Denison University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Dr. Griffiths is a coach and an Executive Advisory Board member for Buddy Up Tennis, Inc. ( http://buddyuptennis.com)—a high-energy, adaptive tennis and fitness program for children and young adults with Down syndrome. When not at work or out on the courts, Rob likes to be outside exploring.
