Current Position and Past Experience
Ramu Nagappan is currently Assistant Dean at UC Berkeley Extension. From 2005 - 2017, he served as the Director of the Department of Humanities and Education at UC Berkeley Extension. This followed five years at the UC San Francisco School of Medicine where Nagappan was the Director of Medical Humanities and a Curriculum Analyst.

At UC Berkeley Extension, Nagappan oversees a number of domestic and international programs, including the Fall Program for Freshmen and the College Foundations Program. He also serves as the Special Advisor to the Dean for Online Learning.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Nagappan earned his B.A from Princeton University and hi Ph.D. in English from UC Berkeley.

He is the author of the book, Speaking Havoc, which explores South Asian literature in the context of communal strife.

Personal Details and Community Involvment
Nagappan enjoys cooking with friends and spending time outdoors with his three young children.
