Current Position and Past Experience
Patrick Guilfoile was most recently the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Prior, Guilfoile served in a range of roles at Bemidji State University, including Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, Associate Dean for the Department of Professional Education and faculty member in the Department of Biology.

Guilfoile is a member of several organizations within his field of study, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Center for Science Education.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Guilfoile earned his B.A. in Biology and Outdoor Education from Northland College. He then earned his M.A. in Teaching Biology from UW-Eau Claire and his Ph.D. in Bacteriology from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Guilfoile was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at MIT.

Guilfoile has published numerous articles in scientific and education journals and has written a molecular biology laboratory manual.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
He enjoys outdoor activities including jogging, hiking, canoeing and fishing. Guilfoile also has an interest in communicating to the general public and has written several books and a regular newspaper column on science. He is currently writing a column in higher education for his local paper.
