Current Position and Past Experience
In her current role at the University of North Carolina, General Administration, Dr. Michelle Solér, Ph.D., MBA, provides strategic assistance, communication, and program development support for student competencies. As the Director of Competency-Based Education and Assessment, she aligns program development and assessment efforts in the Division of Academic Affairs with the Office of Learning Technology and Innovation initiatives to shape opportunities to help ensure campus and student success. She works with faculty and staff across the university system on collaborative, online competency-based programming and general education and institutional assessment projects.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Solér earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA in Marketing and Marketing Management from Wake Forest University Schools of Business. Later on, Soler was awarded the Ph.D. In Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis from the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Through 2016, she will be a fellow in the Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning hosted at Penn State’s World Campus in partnership with Online Learning Consortium.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Soler currently serves on a Task Force for Say, Yes! To Education for the Guilford County School System designed to introduce and coach middle school students toward college and degree completion programs and opportunities.
