Current Position and Past Experience
Michelle Fach is the Executive Director, Open Learning and Educational Support, an integral department at the University of Guelph that creates innovative and relevant educational opportunities and provides a variety of support and services in direct support of the University's teaching and learning mission. This includes Distance Education, Continuing Education, English Language Programs, Teaching and Learning Technologies and Educational/Faculty Development. Fach has held this position since 2012. Prior to 2012, Fach has held a number of roles at the University including Associate Director, Finance Learner Services and Operations, and Manager, Finance and Operations. Fach has over 26 years of experience in working with internal and external partners to extend the teaching and research expertise of the University of Guelph to local, national and international audiences.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Fach's formal academic history includes a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Education. Most recently, Fach completed the Senior University Administrators Program offered through the University of Manitoba.
Fach is a member of the University of Guelph’s Board of Undergraduate Studies, the Senate Committee on Non-Degree Studies, and the Council of Associate Deans. Fach is currently the President of the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education (CAUCE), a professional organization of leaders in university continuing education in Canada. Externally, Fach sits on a variety of provincial and national committees including working groups and advisory committees of the Council of Ontario Universities (COU).
Personal Details and Community Involvement
As a lifelong member of the Guelph community, Fach actively gives back to a variety of organizations. Fach is a current board member of St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph which provides the community with resident long-term care, complex continuing care, and rehabilitation services. Fach served nine years on the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation Board, serving as President from 2011 – 2013. She supports the advancement of the status of women through her involvement with the Zonta Club of Guelph, serving as President from 2013 – 2015. Fach also served on the Church of Our Lady Catholic Women’s League Executive.
