Michael Wiemer | Senior Vice President and Chief Officer for the Americas, AACSB International

Current Position and Past Experience
Michael D. Wiemer is AACSB International's senior vice president and chief officer for the Americas, and holds regional responsibility for strategy development and execution, and advancing AACSB’s mission. With two decades of business education experience, Michael is a member of AACSB's senior leadership team, providing executive support to a distributed team in the AACSB global headquarters in Tampa, FL. Michael is staff liaison to the AACSB Business Practices Council, the AACSB Latin American & Caribbean Advisory Council, and the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative. He developed and operationalized strategic initiatives in the Americas, EMEA and AP regions and is a frequent speaker and organizational representative at business education and industry events worldwide. Prior to AACSB, Michael was director of international programs at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also held the positions of director of the Center for International Programs, and manager of International Operations at Dominican University.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Michael graduated at the top of his class with an MBA in international business from Dominican University. He holds a bachelor’s in international relations with concentrations in East Asian studies and Mandarin Chinese from the University of Minnesota, and also studied executive leadership at Babson College and advanced Mandarin Chinese at the National Taiwan University while living and working in Asia.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Michael’s interests include photography, music, hiking in the mountains, and time spent with his wife Deborah and two baby Pappillons. He is passionate about mentoring younger colleagues and future leaders within academe and the business community.
