Current Position and Past Experience
Michael Christakis is currently Vice President of Student Affairs at the University at Albany and has been with the institution since 1999. He began as a Graduate Residence Hall Director, later serving as Assistant Director of Residential Life, and transitioned to the Vice President’s Office in 2007 first as Assistant to the Vice President and later as Assistant and Associate Vice President before being appointed Vice President in 2015.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Christakis holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration and Policy, and a Master of Public Policy in Public Affairs and Policy from the University of Albany. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Alfred University.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Christakis was named a Pillar of the Profession by the NASPA Foundation in 2023. He previously served as National President of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society, Regional Director for NASPA Region II, and is Chair-Elect of APLU’s Council on Student Affairs.
