Soares is the Chief Learning and Innovation Officer at the American Council on Education. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Strategy, Research and Advancement at the American Council of Education, where he lead teams dedicated to providing thought leadership and programmatic support to college and university leaders as they work toward the success of all learners. Prior to joining ACE, Soares served as Director and Fellow for the Center for American Progress, providing strategic guidance and policy expertise on higher education reform. Soares has also developed and successfully implemented projects with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, TIAA Institute, ACT, Verizon Foundation, Fleet Bank, CVS, Bank of America, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Labor.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Soares received his Master in Public Administration in Workforce Development Policy from Harvard University and a BA in Economics from Brown University.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Soares lives with his wife and daughter in Virginia where he enjoys hiking, cooking and reading science fiction.
