Current Position and Past Experience
Laura Horn is the Director for of the Center for Postsecondary Education Research, Education and Workforce Development with RTI International. She is an expert in postsecondary education research and policy related to student progress and success and, particularly, the experiences of students historically underrepresented in postsecondary education. Ms. Horn’s current research efforts are focused in two areas, community college student experiences and the role of MOOCs in workforce development (domestically and internationally). Before joining RTI, she directed MPR Associates' Postsecondary Education and Transition to College Program.
In her long tenure at MPR, Ms. Horn directed numerous multimillion dollar contracts for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) at the U.S. Department of Education. In this capacity, Ms. Horn developed and directed research studies and oversaw the development and management of public access tools for NCES postsecondary data. She authored more than 30 NCES reports and oversaw the publication of more than 50 other reports.
Horn currently directs a large-scale initiative called The Completion Arch, which involves distilling a comprehensive set of metrics across many data sources that track community college student progress, completion, and entry into the labor market.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Horn earned her BS in Zoology from CSU Long Beach and her MS in Public Health from UCLA.
