Current Position and Past Experience
Katherine S. Sawyer serves as associate vice president of marketing and communication and chief advancement officer for Oakton College (Des Plaines, IL) where she oversees the work of the College’s educational foundation, alumni and affinity programs, marketing and communication, legislative affairs, and community relations. Sawyer came to Oakton College in 2018 having previously served as executive director of Institutional Advancement and Foundation with Elgin Community College (Elgin, IL) and as the associate executive director of the Harper College Educational Foundation for William Rainey Harper College (Palatine, Illinois).

Sawyer’s 30 years of business experience includes positions as regional vice president and director of development, marketing and operations functions for the American Cancer Society, Harper College Educational Foundation, Motorola, NEC, and others.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Sawyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University and a Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University. She is credentialed as a Certified Fund Raising Executive. Sawyer is a member of the Board of Directors and Council of Foundation Leaders (Association of Governing Boards, Washington, DC) as well as the National Committee for College and University Foundations (Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Washington, DC).

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Sawyer and her husband, Mark Bisaillon, live in Palatine, Illinois. She is a member of the League of Women Voters-Palatine Area and enjoys travel, knitting, reading, and spending time with friends.
