Kam Williams | Director of Disability Services, Augustana College
Current Position and Past Experience
Kam Williams is a seasoned professional with several years in higher education. Currently Kam is the director of the Office of Disability Services at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. As a disability service professional, she enjoys research on disability studies and enjoys advocating, educating, and training on disability rights. Kam enjoys collaborating on issues in disability services with other disability service professionals from higher education institutions nationwide.
Before coming to Augustana, Williams served as the director of academic support services, and as director of student disability services of the Teaching and Learning center at Monmouth College, in Monmouth Ill. Other research interests include student retention, student support services, disability policy and awareness, and academic achievement effects on students of color with disabilities.
Education, Honors and Achievements
She holds a B.A from Saint Ambrose University 2003, an MBA and M.Ed. from the University of Arizona Global Campus 2008, and 2013. Currently, she is also a doctoral student at Bradley University. Kam has sat on the Illinois/Iowa Association of Higher Education and Disability (Illowa AHEAD) regional board as a board member at large. She has also served as a moderator at the National Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) conferences.She is a 2019 recipient of the Outstanding Career Advisor award, awarded from Monmouth College.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Outside of work Kam enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling(once the pandemic is over), reading, music, arts and culture. She has volunteered for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program, best buddies, Americorps,Bridge, Upward Bound program.
