Current Position and Past Experience
Jonathan Gyurko is President and Co-Founder of the Association of College and University Educators and served as its founding CEO from 2014 to 2019. Prior, he was President of Leeds Global Partners, an education consultancy. Gyurko held leadership positions for the New York City Department of Education and United Federation of Teachers. Since 2009 he has taught periodically at Teachers College, Columbia University as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Gyurko holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education and Politics and a Master of Public Administration in Education Policy from Columbia University. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of North Carolina, where he attended as a Morehead-Cain Scholar. His new book, Publicization: How Public and Private Interests Can Reinvent Education for the Common Good, calls for a new paradigm in American schools.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Jonathan is an avid gardener, hiker, and amateur carpenter. He coached little league baseball in Brooklyn, New York, where he and his wife raised their two sons, both of whom attended NYC public schools.
