John Wells | Senior Vice Provost for Online Education, University of Massachusetts- Amherst

Current Position and Past Experience
John Wells is the Senior Vice Provost for Online Education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He oversees the strategic integration of online learning into the overarching educational mission at UMass Amherst to create a multi-modal learning experience. In this role, his primary responsibilities are to provide instructors with the tools and techniques to integrate on-campus and online learning modalities, guide multi-modal program development and growth, and enhance the multi-modal student experience.

Prior to this, he served as a Professor of Information Management and later as Associate Dean of Professional Programs in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. He also taught at the Washington State University for over 10 years.

Education, Honors and Achievements
John Wells holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Oklahoma. He also completed a Master’s and Ph.D. in Management Information Systems at Texas A&M University.
