Current Position and Past Experience
Johanne Hayes RN, BScN, MN is currently Associate Dean, Continuing and Professional Studies, at Sheridan College. She has also held the position of Professor and Program Coordinator (Alternate Pathways) with the UNB-Humber Collaborative Bachelor of Nursing Program, and Program Advisor in Continuing Education (Health Sciences) and Professor, Practical Nursing at Humber College. As a Registered Nurse, Johanne has practiced as a Nurse Educator at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and has experience caring for clients and families in the areas of Critical Care and Neurosurgery.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Johanne holds a Master of Nursing in Adult Health Nursing from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMaster University. She is a recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Award for Excellence in Teaching and has presented at conferences in the area of Patient Safety with a strong focus on curriculum design and program planning for both Higher Education and Healthcare Organizations (Dosage Calculation/Medication safety; Clinical Pathways; St. Joseph’s Healthcare Assistant Program; Aspiration Pneumonia prevention, etc.).

Since 2013, Johanne has built programs and has successfully collaborated with Higher Education, Regulatory Bodies, and Non-Profit Partners to develop alternative pathways for International Educated Nurses and professionals who have trained outside of Canada. Johanne has a strong professional and academic commitment to developing networks and modern and novel pathway opportunities that open doors for all learners in our communities to experience Higher Education and achieve their goals.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Johanne spends personal time with a large family and close friends. She is an avid reader of classic and modern literature and enjoys gardening. She is a super-fan of all sports and athletics and has a keen interest in health and wellness from a holistic, community-based perspective.
