Current Position and Past Experience
Elizabeth Wood is currently an instructor of business in the Center for Continuing Education at McMaster University. Here, she uses her experience and knowledge to support and empower up and coming business professionals across all industries. She is also Executive Vice President of CMI Financial Group, a multi-divisional group of companies centred in mortgage lending and administration.

She is passionate about strategic marketing, corporate finance, assurance and governance, organizational design, and corporate leadership and project management, and has been a driving force behind many of the strategic enhancements that led to CMI earning the 110th spot on the 2020 Canadian Business Growth 500 ranking.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Elizabeth graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Commerce from Thompson Rivers University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Athabasca University. She is currently completing her MBA through Laurentian University.

Elizabeth is also designated a Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.) and is serving a 3-year term on the National Board of Directors of CIM Chartered Managers Canada. She is also a Certified Manager (CM) through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (USA).

Most recently she was named to the Canadian Mortgage Professional’s 2019 “Women of Influence” list, which recognizes female trailblazers and leaders in the mortgage industry. Elizabeth is also the founder and operator of an award-winning bookkeeping and tax preparation firm in Hamilton

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Elizabeth is very passionate about learning, viewing her life as a never-ending quest for knowledge. She is particularly passionate about history, from ancient to modern, and loves nothing more then to spend a rainy Sunday with her dogs, a cup of tea and a good book. Elizabeth also loves Broadway, and is well known amongst her friends for her tendency to break into showtunes. She is also a strong advocate for mental health, spearheading awareness programs in her workplace and advocating tirelessly to end the stigma surrounding mental illness.
