Current Position and Past Experience
Dianne Tyers is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development at Dalhousie University. She is also President and CEO of Advance Consulting for Education, Inc.

Dianne brings over 30 years of experience in the adult education sector to the position in a wide variety of roles (teaching, regional and operations management, training, program development, technology evaluation, accreditation and program evaluation in both public and private sector organizations) along with extensive international experience (U.S.A., Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, United Arab Emirates).

Education, Honors and Achievements
Dianne earned her PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her research focused on the entrepreneurial, cross-cultural and cross-linguistic experiences of women entrepreneurs operating language education businesses internationally. She has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada and a Master’s of Arts from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. She is a Fellow of the Business Excellence Institute.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Dianne is an avid tennis player, hiker and beach explorer. She enjoys immersing herself in new cultures and languages and has travelled to over 75 countries. Dianne sponsors small teacher education projects in developing countries that have community impact. Dianne is a supporter of TESL Canada, the national professional association for English language instructors. She has served as Treasurer of the association, and currently serves on the Standards Committee.
