Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. David Starnes is Chief Academic Officer at Purdue University Global. In this role, he plays a central part in fulfilling the university’s mission and vision, and is responsible for providing leadership and insight of Purdue Global’s academic operations, policy, curricula, assessment and learning. He also leads records, reporting, curriculum and governance.

Starnes joined Purdue Global (formerly Kaplan University) in 2005, and has served as an adjunct faculty member, department chair and Assistant Dean in the School of Business and Information Technology, as well as Vice Provost. He has been instrumental in driving innovation and creativity resulting in improvements such as Purdue Global’s modularized curriculum, competency-based education programs, and state-of-the-art learning management system.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Starnes holds a Ph.D. in Management from Walden University, and a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Davenport University. He also holds his commercial, instrument, and flight instructor pilot certificates from the Federal Aviation Administration.
