Current Position and Past Experience
Mayor David Alvey was elected as the 30th Mayor of the City of Kansas City, and as the fourth Mayor/CEO of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS on November 7, 2017.

Born and raised in Wyandotte County, Alvey served as Assistant Principal for Faculty Formation at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City prior to being elected Mayor. Before this, Alvey was Dean of Students at Rockhurst High School and Director of the Student Support Program of Full Circle Programs, Inc.

Alvey served as President on the Board of Public Utilities before becoming Mayor. He is a member of the American Public Power Association (APPA), and currently serves on the APPA Policy Makers Council.

Education, Honors and Achievements
David Alvey graduated Summa Cum Laude in Philosophy and Letters from Saint Louis University. He completed 30 hours of graduate work at the Jesuit School of Theology at the Graduate Theological Union at Berkeley, California, 15 hours of graduate work in Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and 30 hours in humanities studies at Creighton University in Omaha.
