Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Damýen Davis is currently Director of First-Year Experience at Richard Daley College in Chicago, IL, where he is responsible for creating and growing innovative strategies and interventions with district stakeholders that are designed to close equity gaps, improve first-year student outcomes, and increase retention and success rates for new students.
Dr. Davis has 20 years of experience working with college students implementing innovative programs, and 12 years of experience in behavioral modification, providing assessments and interventions that promote student wellness and foster academic and personal success, and devising student-ready adjustment plans and primary prevention programs that have reduced incidents of student failure in academic settings.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Davis holds a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University Chicago. He also earned a Master of Arts in Psychology with a focus on Human Development from National Louis University and a History degree from Hampton University.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Dr. Davis is deeply passionate about advocacy, dedicating significant time and effort to supporting vulnerable populations. As a Board Member of Precious Little Ladies, an advocacy organization for women, children and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault, Dr. Davis plays a role in raising awareness and implementing initiatives that provide essential support and resources to those in need.
Furthermore, Dr. Davis is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Phi Psi Lambda Leadership Society Incorporated, the pioneering leadership organization focused on advancing males of color in higher education. Through these impactful roles, Dr. Davis demonstrates a commitment to creating positive change and empowering underrepresented communities.
