Current Position and Past Experience
Angelique Maguire is currently Director of Adult Education Instructional Services at Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) and has been in this position since 2019. Prior to the Adult Education director position, she served as Transition Services Coordinator of IECC. She also taught through Frontier Community College, which is one of the four community colleges in the IECC community college system. She taught various Career and Technical Education courses with a focus in Graphic Design. Angelique has taught and established her profession in higher education for a little over 13 years. Prior to the higher education experience, Angelique worked as a Production Manager for three years before moving into the role of Social Media Marketer and Designer with Iconik Studio.

Angelique Maguire leads Illinois Eastern Community College’s Adult Education Instructional Services Team. She oversees instructors, curriculum, resources, scheduling courses, professional development, training events, marketing the classes and the program, and communications initiatives within IECC’s 12 county district.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Maguire holds a master’s degree in education, Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from Southern Oregon University, along with a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Greenville University. Angelique was a recipient of a Spotlight on Service award in 2019 from the Illinois Secretary of State for volunteer tutoring and received the 2021 Illinois Adult and Continuing Education Association (IACEA) Administrator of the Year Award. In 2022, Angelique received an Outstanding Innovator of the Year award with the Illinois Digital Learning Lab Cohort.

Angelique continues her passion for serving in Adult Education by completing her master’s degree in Adult Education and Micro-Credential in Leadership in Higher Education. She received the Guanajuato Outstanding Graduate Award the summer of 2023 upon graduating Southern Oregon University (SOU) and was inducted into the SOU Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, “the nation’s oldest, most selective… all-discipline honor society. Membership is by invitation only to SOU’s top 7.5 percent of second term juniors and the top 10 percent of seniors and graduates.” (Phi Kappa Phi, 2023)

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Angelique’s background includes leadership roles in higher education, adult education, in her community, and in her church. She recently joined CAEL in 2022 and experienced the first CAEL Conference this year in Chicago, IL as an educator and presenter. Angelique has presented, prior to the CAEL experience, at a several Adult and Continuing Education conferences in the state of Illinois covering digital literacy awareness, creative and innovative thinking, and introducing new technologies. Angelique is active Ambassador for CAEL, advocating for Adult and Continuing Education through higher education settings, community action agencies, and workforce development. Angelique is a three-year Board and Policy Council Member for Wabash Area Development, Inc. (WADI) which is a community action agency that serves the IECC school district. She is a first-year board member with the Illinois Adult and Continuing Educators Association (IACEA) as a Senior Chair for the ESL Division and serves on the My First Year Conference (MFYC) committee.

Angelique has served as a Children’s Pastor and in Children’ ministry with her husband, Brent, for over ten years now. She lives in southern Illinois with her husband, Brent, and youngest son, Jacob. She is a mother of 5 and a grandmother of 5 as well. Her hobbies are enjoying time with her family, painting, and traveling. Angelique was a muralist and freelance graphic designer prior to opening her professional experience up to higher education and adult education.

Angelique’s work has been featured in the COABE Journal with the Illinois Digital Learning Lab (IDLL) published case study quotes. She was also featured on the SOU site as an “Illinois Educator Thriving in Online Master’s Degree Program.
