Current Position and Past Experience
Alexander Halavais currently serves as the Director of the MA in Social Technologies at Arizona State University. He also serves as an Associate Professor at the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at ASU, where he has been since 2012.
Before joining ASU, Halavais taught in the MS in Interactive Communications Program at Quinnipiac University, which followed five years as the Director of the Master’s Program in Informatics at the University at Buffalo.
Previously, Halavais was the President of the Association of Internet Researchers and worked at the Digital Media and Learning Hub at the University of California Humanities Research Institute.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Halavais earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California and his Ph.D. in Communications from the University of Washington.
