Current Position and Past Experience
From 2000-2008, Shearer served as Penn State University’s Assistant Director of Instructional Design and Development for the World Campus, and from 2008 to 2012 has been the Director of World Campus Learning Design.

Prior to joining Penn State, Shearer spent 15 years with National University. He spent the last seven years at the institution as the Director of Institutional Research and Instructional Systems.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Shearer earned his D.Ed. in Adult Education from Penn State University, and his M. Ed in Educational Technology from San Diego State University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Shearer serves on the editorial board for the New Zealand Journal of Open and Distance Learning and is on the advisory board for the Advisory Board for UW-Madison's Distance Education Professional Development. He also served as the chair of the UPCEA Distance Learning Community of Practice.
