Current Position and Past Experience
Carolyn Callaghan is currently Executive Director of Educational Outreach at Western Carolina University. Prior, she was the Acting Dean of the Office of Professional, Continuing and Distance Education at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. She has been in PCDE at Shippensburg since 2005, serving in a variety of roles. Before stepping into her current position, Callaghan was Associate Dean, where she was responsible for program planning and development, off-campus logistics and daily operations. She has also served in the roles of Off-Campus Coordinator and Assistant Dean.

Mary School of Law; where she served concurrently as the Executive Director of the William and Mary Tax Conference for two years. Other past experiences have included Administrative Assistant to the President at Illinois Wesleyan University working on special projects. Also, as an instructor, she taught GED and computers to adults at Carl Sandburg College.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Callaghan has a B.S. in Social Sciences and History and an M.S. Ed. in College Student Personnel from Illinois State University. She completed a doctorate (D.Ed.) in Adult Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Her dissertation was Culturally Diverse Cohorts: The Exploration of Learning in Context and Community.

Callaghan is active in the Mid-Atlantic region University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), and has served on the awards committee (co-chair 2009 -2010).

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Callaghan is an active member of the Shippensburg Rotary Club, where she serves as the Rotaract Advisor, Four Way Test Speech Director, Ship Shape Day Committee Representative, Head Start Coats for Kids Project Lead.

She lives in Shippensburg PA with her husband, Eric and their two children Drew and Will.
