Current Position and Past Experience
Steven Laymon is the interim Dean of the University of Virginia’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Laymon has been at the University of Virginia since 2014, serving for a year as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Services before stepping into the Interim Dean role in 2015.
Prior to UVA, Laymon was the Associate Dean for Business and Professional Programs at the University of Chicago Graham School for 10 years. In that time, Laymon spent three years as a Resident Head at the University of Chicago.
From 1999-2004, before moving to the University of Chicago, Laymon spent five years as the Assistant Dean at Columbia University.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Laymon earned his PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 1999. He also has a MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago’s Committee on International Relations. His BA is from Miami University.
