Current Position and Past Experience
With over twenty years of experience in public speaking, multimedia marketing, public relations, and career coaching in the Entertainment Industry, Heather Adams currently oversees the Transfer Student Program at UCLA. A non-traditional transfer student herself, Adams has been an advocate for students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds since enrolling at Santa Monica Community College and transferring to UCLA.
Adams is also currently a doctoral candidate at UCLA’s Educational Leadership Program. Heather's primary research has focused on the non-traditional and transfer student experience, institutional shifts that best serve this growing and diverse population, and ways in which to strengthen career development opportunities for college students and promote fluid collaborations between universities and the workforce.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Adams received her B.A. with highest honors in Psychology from UCLA in 2014; prior to that she attended Santa Monica College. She is currently working on a doctorate in Education Leadership at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education & Information Studies.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Adams is an enthusiastic gardener at Wattles Community Garden in Los Angeles where she has an organic garden plot.
Adams is also very involved in animal rescue and fostering. She fosters dogs regularly and adopted her German Shepard Mix, Molly, last year from A Purposeful Rescue dog rescue in Los Angeles.
