Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2013, Beth Smith has served as the President of the Academic Senate of California Community Colleges. She concurrently serves as a mathematics professor at Grossmont College, a position she has held since 1993. From 2003-2007, Smith served as the college’s Academic Senate president.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Smith earned her bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from San Diego State and her master's degree in applied mathematics from UC San Diego.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
She has been involved in reviewing the Common Core State Standards assessment criteria for mathematics for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, and has worked to develop tutor training programs for local schools through AmeriCorps.
