Current Position and Past Experience
Sharon Blanton is the Vice President of Information Technology Services for Hawaii Pacific University, as well as the school’s Chief Information Officer.
Prior to joining Hawaii Pacific University, Blanton was the Associate Chief Information Officer and then the Chief Information Officer at Portland State University. Blanton has also served as the Vice Chancellor/CIO of Pima Community College, as the CIO/Dean of information Technology at Scottsdale Community College, and as the Director of College Technology at Scottsdale Community College.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Blanton received her B.A. from Towson University in 1986. In 1990, she completed her M.Ed. at the University of Virginia. In 2005, she received a PhD in Higher Education Administration from Capella University.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Sharon is fortunate to live in an environment conducive to her favorite outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and hiking. She also very much enjoys volunteering with local animal welfare agencies.
