Current Position and Past Experience
Renita Allen Dawson is currently Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education and Community Engagement at Wayne Community College. Previously, she was Associate Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services, a role that she served since 2013. In this role she oversaw all short-term, career credit programs, Transitional Programs for College and Career (TPCC), and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs. Previously, she was the Small Business Center Director at Wayne. Prior, she was Coordinator of Basic Skills at James Sprunt Community College for eight years. Mrs. Dawson has over 20 years of experience in workforce development.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Dawson has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Management and a Master of Arts in Adult Education Management from East Carolina University.

Awards received include Outstanding Service to Students - James Sprunt Community College Student Government Association (1999); Employee of the Month Award – James Sprunt Community College (September 2003); Employee of the Quarter Award – James Sprunt Community College (2005); and Employee of the Year Award – James Sprunt Community College (2005).

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Renita currently serves as President-Elect of the North Carolina Community College Adult Educator’s Association (NCCCAEA). Additionally, she is a board member for Communities Supporting Schools of Wayne County, and Chairman of Empowered Pearls of Service Foundation. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter. In this organization, her leadership roles include Vice President, President, Publicity Chairman, and Membership Chairman, of the Goldsboro chapter. She now serves as the region’s representative to the International Program Committee, a position achieved as a result of consistent servant leadership. She is a committed and active worker in her church,

Word of Truth Christian Fellowship. There, she sings in the choir, and serves as Chairman of the Media Ministry. Renita loves to sing and is called upon by local and state organizations to perform vocally.

Community awards received include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter Chapter Bridgebuilder Award (2010); and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter AKAdemy Award (2012).
