Current Position and Past Experience
Katie Carpen joined Western Governors University in 2025 as an Associate Dean & Director. Over the last 12 years, she’s held other leadership roles in higher education, including Associate Dean, Director of Institutional Research, Coordinator of Planning, Consultant, Faculty Lead, and Subject Matter Expert. Carpen has over 14 years of teaching and academic coaching experience. Carpen also has 15 years of transferrable consulting, recruitment, and mortgage finance experience.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Carpen earned her PhD in Organizations and Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Capella University, along with her MBA in Organizational Leadership and BA in Law and the Liberal Arts from The University of Findlay. She is certified by the Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence in Social and Emotional Intelligence Coaching.

Carpen enjoys gardening, traveling, yoga, and meditation.
